Between 12 and Feb. 14, several hundred practitioners of this spectacular sport will enjoy the experience of climbing waterfalls in one of the best climbing areas in the Catalan Pyrenees. In sectors such as the quarry, or the fabled black rock waterfall jump mandrel among others, the organization, under the coaching of Xavi Metal and Conrad López (ECEM), prepare the “top ropes”, so that from the neophytes to the more experienced can show their climbing skills surrounded by the landscapes of the Parc National d’Aigüestortes.

Manu Cordova is credited with among others a 4 as the test of the World Cup of ice climbing in Val Daone, opening a path on the north side of Tengkampoche (Nepal) or openings in the Pyrenees of M9.

Wild Barrientos for his part has ascents on the north side of Tengkampoche (Nepal) or the opening of roads in Wadi Rum (Jordan).

For those who want to enjoy the scenery of the Valley, organizers have raised itineraries led by the National Park using snowshoes.

Más de cien escaladores se reunía en sábado para participar en esta concentración de escalada en hielo, además de tener la oportunidad de testar el nuevo material para 2009.

Pese al mal tiempo se decidió subir a la presa de Cavallers para escalar en Rocas Negras, aunque el aspecto de la zona les hizo decantarse por una zona más baja, resguardándose del fuerte viento.

Una vez guarecidos de la inclemencia invernal, la gente disfrutó de los clínicos de escalada en hielo ofrecidos por la Escola Catalana de Muntanya. Se pudo escalar hasta el mediodía, utilizando el material cedido por las marcas que patrocinaban el evento.

Por la tarde se colgaron los piolets y los asistentes se pusieron a cargo de Xavi Metal, quien proyectó “Lágrimas de gel”. Asistencia completa y un buen espacio de relax después de la actividad que acabaría con una cena y un sorteo. Los que aún tuviesen resistencia se pasaron al ritmo del dj hasta altas horas.

El domingo, debido a los fuertes vientos y a una nevada descomunal, la organización se ve obligada a cancelar la competición, por lo que los escaladores se dividen: unos escogen sudar en el rocódromo y otros recuperar sus músculos en las aguas termales.

En resumen, este noveno Petzl Icertc atrajó a un centenar de participantes que provocaron un ambientazo. Un éxito para una espléndida organización.
